Feeling Chilly? Have some Hot Vegan Recipes

Winter is coming. Remember when that was the hottest thing on TV? Well, do you remember the hottest thing that you ate, considering how cold it’s becoming out there? With the falling of leaves and the slow blanketing of our backyards with snow (for people who live in snowy areas, anyways), the coming cold season is becoming more gradually visible as the days go by. It would be nice to go on a warm culinary cruise at this time of year, but alas, we’ll have to make do with our indoor situation at the moment. That doesn’t mean that we spend our time begrudgingly, mind you. We can make the creeping cold fade away with some hot plant-based recipes. Here’s a few that we’ve compiled all over the net:

Forks Over Knives’ Roasted Veggie Pasta

Pasta is one of the best vegan comfort foods out there. It’s just so versatile and filling. You can cook it regularly, make it into a (plant-based) lasagna with vegan cheese, serve it in mushroom soup, roast it—The possibilities are endless. The latter cooking option is what this recipe from Forks Over Knives used, adapted from the book Thug Kitchen: Party Grub.

Cauldron Foods’ Vegan Hot and Sour Tofu Soup

Some vegan foods fulfill different gastronomic niches. Toast is for that crunchy breakfast vibe, while smoothies are for that nutritious energy boost we all need. But soup? Well, soup warms your bones and keeps the chilly weather away. Who says that chicken soup is the only thing good for the soul? Tofu, Chinese cabbage and other such ingredients can nourish you in a way that chicken soup can’t. This hot and sour tofu soup is a must-try in the cold months.
