Vegan Bacon! Just the suggestion of it can make your mouth water. A real animal is no longer necessary to enjoy good bacon. However, most people are unfamiliar with vegan bacon, which is sad because it is just as scrumptious as its meat-based counterpart.
Vegan bacon used to be just a dream. However, in the last few years, there has been an explosion of new vegan meat alternatives onto the market. These days, you can get tofu bacon, mushroom bacon and other interesting choices at the supermarket or served at vegan culinary cruises.
It's nice to have options in case you're looking for something to spice up your meal. Making your own vegan bacon means you can flavor it however you like, or keep it simple. Here are some of my favorite vegan bacon recipes that will satisfy your taste buds and fill you up, but won’t weigh you down.
The EdgyVeg’s Rice Paper Bacon
Vegan Rice Paper Bacon, is a veganized spin-off of the meat-based product. It’s modified so that a vegan or vegan-curious person can enjoy it! You can use these veggie slices raw or cooked in recipes. You may also find this unique dish in one of your vegan travels. A serving suggestion: crumble the vegan bacon on some toast with tomato slices for a full meal.

Vegan Tempeh Bacon by The Hidden Veggies
Walk away from the sizzling strips of oily meat and step over to this earth-friendly option, which is every bit as tasty. Vegan tempeh bacon is a great start to any meal. With just a few ingredients you can be sure to impress your guests with something that’s delicious and filling. It really is super simple with just a marinade, and hands on time of about 15 minutes. No matter what your diet is, everyone will enjoy this dish, vegan or not.

The Vegan Recipe Club’s Seitan Bacon
My new favorite kitchen experiment is making vegan seitan bacon, and it turned out better than I even hoped. These "bacon" slices are perfectly chewy like actual bacon, but with a crispy, salty outside. It's amazing on sandwiches or kale salad, but also really adds flavor to potatoes, beans, and faux-chicken dishes. It's easy to make and really delicious, especially with some homemade mayo!
