A Few Tips on Maintaining Health and Wellness while Staying Safe

With 2020 reaching the halfway mark, a lot of people around the world are still bracing for what’s to come. The current pandemic is still affecting a large percentage of the world’s population, and many of those who are otherwise uninfected are feeling fearful and gloomy during their time indoors.

Many of us dream of going on vacations again, from vegan travel expeditions to simple visits to our relative’s states. Sadly, travel is a bit restricted right now. However, despite these restrictions, one must not be idle, and let the bad vibes of the global pandemic affect their health and wellness. Here are a few ways you can combat the lockdown blues and stay happy and healthy.

Get Some Negative Ions

Some research suggests that exposure to negative ions (found in natural phenomena like waterfalls and mountains) can help our mood and improve our health and productivity. While it’s tempting to buy a product that’s said to produce such ions, you could always go outside (mask on, of course) after a thunderstorm, or (if you’re lucky enough to live near such a place) talk a short walk in a park or wooded area. Alternatively, you could start gardening, as exposure to plants can be relaxing for the body.

Talk to People

Talk to people, and when we mean by “talk”, we mean real, engaging conversation, not vague comments on Facebook or passive-aggressive posts on Twitter. Talking to your friends, loved ones and even neighbors (at a good distance with masks on) reconnects you to humanity in a positive way. A lot of us have thrown ourselves into social media, creating an almost cramped space where we all act and react to each other’s comments, beliefs and opinions. Talk to people you care about regarding things that you like, things that you’re passionate about. Find solace in humanity.
