Being A Sustainable Traveler

Sustainable travel is defined as "finding a way for tourism to be maintained long-term without harming natural and cultural environments. Sustainable travel should minimize the negative effects of tourism and ideally make it beneficial to the area being visited."

We emphasize that on our European Vegan Cruises, our guests apply sustainability to their travel lifestyle. Practicing veganism isn't limited to eating plant-based food; it's also about having respect for the environment around you and minimizing your carbon footprint.

Cruise ships exert influences on the environment in various ways. From air pollution from diesel engines to ballast water and wastewater. The complex logistics, maintenance, and upkeep of a cruise ship require high standards of compatibility with the environment, which we take to heart when choosing a partner vessel.

Avoid Single-Use Plastic

As tempting as it may be to buy a water bottle from the nearest convenience store, it's actually much more convenient to BYOB, or Bring Your Own Bottle. Before you go on your tour excursion, have the staff refill your bottle. This not only saves you time but also effort. Plus, the small gesture of packing your own water has a significant positive impact on the environment.

Shop Locally

Avoid shopping for trinkets and souvenirs at gift shops because such items were mass-produced in another country and shipped to where you are now. This defeats the purpose of growing the local economy. Instead, go to the local street vendors or buy things like art off the sidewalk. You're sure to get the authentic quality you're looking for.

Eat at Restaurants With Locally Sourced Goods

Europe is filled with farm-to-table establishments, and there are plenty of vegan options everywhere, especially in the countryside. When you find restaurants that source their produce locally, you can ensure that the quality of food will always be fresh and healthy.
