Paul McCartney's Veganism and His Favorite Food

Vegan foods are all that Paul McCartney eats nowadays and had been for a long while. But back then, it was not one of her defining things about him. Everyone knows him. Prominent songwriter, one of the Beatles, and a dear friend of John Lennon. So how and when did veganism come into play? Let us read and find out!

Sir Paul McCartney

He and His Wife Inspired Each Other

It is a pretty simple answer. His late wife and he are animal lovers. Both Paul McCartney and Linda were known to become vegans after seeing sweet lambs playing outside when they were living on their farm. They had a realization due to this and had rejected meat ever since then.

Linda was fond of her horses as well and would not fail to move them with her when they changed towns. She also had a goose come to their farm by a long taxi ride.

When Did He Start Veganism?

Paul McCartney has been practicing this lifestyle since 1975. He is one of the most notable celebrities advocating veganism. With his wife, he encouraged his children as well as the world to try the vegan diet. The family had even released vegetarian and vegan recipes in cookbooks like Linda Mccartney's Home Cooking (1990) and The Meat Free Monday Cookbook (2016)

Let's make his Favorite Dish!

Speaking of cooking, let us honor the great musician, by cooking one of his favorite meals!

How to make Mashed Potato with Diced Onions

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pound of Russet potatoes (peeled and chopped in large chunks)
  • 1/2 pound Yukon potatoes (peeled and chopped in large chunks)
  • 2 large yellow onions, peeled and diced (about 1 pound)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegan butter
  • 1 cup of soy milk
  • salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Boil a pot of salted water.
  2. Put the potatoes and cook until tender but firm in 15 minutes. Drain afterward.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the vegan butter, diced onions, and soy milk over low heat.
  4. Wait when butter is melted.
  5. Slowly blend soy milk mixture into potatoes until creamy but just enough chunks that it is not too sloppy. In this sense, a potato wire masher is preferable to an electric beater
  6. Apply a healthy amount of salt and pepper
  7. Cool and enjoy this delight! It is simply one of the better vegetarian recipes!
